Landslide is part of a series I am yet to title; a photographic series of expanded character. One that comprises a slight echo of Of Sunburns and Sunspots, with more of a determined undertone; in it, my sister and I are the sole subjects. A likeness, a chronic illness, a blood condition. The scars we share, the wounds we salt; the light she bears –and which shines for us both.

Softcore portrays light in a seemingly cartographic manner, in the form of structural jacquard tapestries, constituting a sort of flesh that is only real in its constructedness –that is true in its own accord as a single reading.

Lorena Articardi (b. 1992, Italian-Uruguayan), is a visual artist and scholar working with photography and motion images as her primary mediums. She describes her material-discursive practice as a study on light, approaching light as both form and content. Purposely flawed, brutally honest; her subversive practice takes the form of an intimate photographic reportage that samples in fragments, and thinks of captures as a form of inscribed light-sensitive memory. Light is inherently restless and, as a light impression, thus is the photographic image.
